Through Charlotte Beatty’s eyes getting married and having kids are the easy things, but the divorce is the most complicated out of them.
She saw this when she started working for Missoula District Court Judge Dusty Deschamps. She also saw that people couldn’t afford attorneys for a family court case, and the paperwork was so excessive that the judge would do most of it then they would give the rest of the paperwork to the clients, and this would delay the court cases for a long time. Also, the kids would be waiting for what the custody plan would come out to if the case was delayed. Now a day’s things have changed because of Missoula Family Law Self-Help Center. “What we’ve seen is cases now move more quickly, people are less anxious and kids know what the parenting plans are going to be,” said Beatty, who is the supervisor of the self-help center.
